An official document suggesting several things the Pope should do while he visits Britain has leaked. The document suggested the Pope should open an abortion clinic, bless a gay-marriage and launch a new brand of condoms. It also said the Pope should “sack dodgy bishops” and launch a helpline for abused children. The document was a brainstorm with many far-fetched ideas, which mostly seemed to mock the Pope's regime. It was not supposed to become public. When it did, the Foreign Office had to apologise. They realised it was offensive to the Pope and many other Catholic people all over the world.
Though this document is highly inappropriate to actually send to the Pope, I think it is a good thing the things it suggests are brought to attention. The child abuse is a very hot item at the moment and yet the Pope does not seem to have too much to say about it. The people who wrote this document knew the Pope would never agree with the things they asked for, that is probably the reason why it should never have become public. Still, it is a good thing that people once more can see the strict view of the Catholic church on things like homosexuality, abortion and contraceptives.
